Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy outlines how ToolShed handles data in connection with our desktop application and portal.
01Our core privacy philosophy
ToolShed is engineered with a privacy-by-design and data minimization approach. Because our application runs locally on your environment, we do not harvest, track, or commercialize your internal business data or employee records.
02Information we do not collect
When you use ToolShed on your local machine, the following data remains strictly local to your device and is never automatically transmitted to or harvested by ToolShed servers.
- Employee profiles, contracts, payroll records, or identifying documents
- Customer databases, lead lists, or internal messaging
- Local database passwords, secret keys, or authentication tokens
- Business financial records, ledgers, and internal metrics
03Information we may collect
To manage software activation and portal access, we collect minimal operational metadata.
- Account credentials. Email address, user name, and license keys generated during subscription onboarding.
- Authentication and telemetry. Machine ID or basic system environment metrics strictly required for license validation, software update distribution, and fraud prevention.
- Billing information. Payment transactions processed securely via third-party payment gateways such as Paynow. ToolShed does not store raw credit card numbers or banking secrets on its servers.
04Cloud sync and Honeycomb OS connections
If you enable cloud connectivity to Honeycomb OS or external endpoints, the application transmits only the specific payload types you configure.
Guideline. As outlined in our Terms, sending transactional and operational summaries is recommended over transmitting raw employee or complete database files. We do not inspect, audit, or edit the payload contents transmitted through user-configured cloud endpoints.
05Data security guidance for users
Since data safety relies primarily on your local security posture, we strongly encourage all ToolShed admins to take the following steps.
- Maintain encrypted local drives, for example BitLocker or FileVault
- Apply strict OS-level access controls so unauthorized staff cannot access local ToolShed storage directories
- Run regular offline backups to secure, air-gapped physical media
- Avoid storing unencrypted backup files in public or unverified cloud drives
